Do we really have a "free” will?
Read 1 Corinthians 2:9-18 and Romans 3:11. We can receive nothing from God unless the Spirit reveals it to us.
John 12:32 "And I, if I am lifted up from the earth, I will draw all peoples to Myself."
John 15:16 "You did not choose Me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit, and [that] your fruit should remain, that whatever you ask the Father in My name He may give you.”
John 6:37 "All that the Father gives Me will come to Me, and the one who comes to Me I will by no means cast out.”
John 1:13 "who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God."
Proverbs 16:9 "A man's heart plans his way, But the LORD directs his steps."
Proverbs 20:24 "Man's goings [are] of the LORD; how can a man then understand his own way? " His will is usually not forced. Freedom of choice, but all choices are influenced by the course of our lives. We are “creatures of habit”. See Romans 6:16-18. What is a slave? Bondage! Yielding to God brings His will for your life into fulfillment. Do it the hard way or the easy way.
Hebrews 12:2 "Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of [our] faith…"
Romans 9:15-16 “For he said to Moses, I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion. So then [it is] not of him that wills, nor of him that runs, but of God that shows mercy."
Romans 5:18 “Consequently, just as the result of one trespass was condemnation for all men, so also the result of one act of righteousness was justification that brings life for all men.” Men had no choice in being condemned and have no choice to receive life.
Acts 13:48 "Now when the Gentiles heard this, they were glad and glorified the word of the Lord. And as many as had been appointed to eternal (age lasting) life believed."
Acts 17:28 "for in Him we live and move and have our being, as also some of your own poets have said, 'For we are also His offspring."
Ephesians 1:4-5 “just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before Him in love, having predestined us to adoption as sons by Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the good pleasure of His will…”
Romans 8:29-30 “For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the likeness of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers. And those he predestined, he also called; those he called, he also justified; those he justified, he also glorified.” Predestination and election is corporate not usually individual.
Philippians 2:13 “for it is God who works in you both to will and to do for [His] good pleasure.” In all ways God is sovereign. Man’s will is always subject to Him.

PAUL'S GRACE APOSTLESHIP

Not only was Paul not one of "the Twelve" Apostles, he also was given a new message, about a new dispensation, with a new commission, resulting in the forming and building of a new people.
Paul Ministered a New Message
Paul did not preach what "the Twelve" taught – he preached the gospel of the grace of God. "… The ministry, which I have received of the Lord Jesus, to testify the gospel of the grace of God" (Acts 20:24).
This gospel did not come to Paul from others; it was a divine revelation.
"… I certify you, brothers, that the gospel which was preached of me is not after man. For I neither received it of man, neither was I taught it, but by the revelation of Jesus Christ" (Galatians 1:11-12).
So much was this a new message that Paul had to make a trip to Jerusalem to tell them of this heavenly revelation.
"… I went up by revelation, and communicated unto them that gospel which I preach among the Gentiles … for they who seemed to be somewhat in conference added nothing to me: but contrariwise, when they saw that the Gospel of the Uncircumcision was committed unto me, as the Gospel of the Circumcision was unto Peter" (Galatians 2:2-7).
Notice that Paul called this new gospel "the Gospel of the Uncircumcision." He also called it distinctly his gospel – i.e., "my gospel."
"In the day when God shall judge the secrets of men by Jesus Christ according to my gospel" (Romans 2:16).
"Now to Him that is of power to establish you according to my gospel" (Romans 16:25).
"Remember that Jesus Christ of the seed of David was raised from the dead according to my gospel" (II Timothy 2:8).
This was a new message "which was kept secret in ages past."
"Now to Him that is of power to establish you according to my gospel, and the preaching of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery, which was kept secret in ages past" (Romans 16:25).
Paul Ministered in a New Dispensation
Paul's good news was a part of a revelation of a whole new divine administration with mankind – the unreserved dispensing of God's grace.
"If you have heard of the dispensation of the grace of God which is given me to you" (Ephesians 3:2). Also, "Whereof I am made a minister, according to the dispensation of God which is given to me for you, to fulfill the Word of God; even the mystery which has been hidden from ages and from generations, but now is made manifest to His saints: to whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory" (Colossians 1:25-27).
Paul Ministered with a New Commission

"And all things are of God, Who has reconciled us to Himself by Jesus Christ, and has given to us the ministry of reconciliation; to wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto Himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and has committed unto us the Word of reconciliation. Paul Ministered to a New People
Unlike "the Twelve" who ministered to Israel, Paul ministered to the newly formed Body of Christ, the heavenly creation. All earthly, fleshly distinction was now gone.
"Wherefore henceforth know we no man after the flesh: yea, though we have known Christ after the flesh, yet now henceforth know we Him no more. Therefore if any man is in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new" (II Corinthians 5:16-17).
"For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one Body, whether we are Jews or Gentiles, whether we are bond or free … Now you are the Body of Christ, and members in particular" (I Corinthians 12:13, 27).
Paul Ministered that we have Righteousness in Christ
Righteousness is simply an old word for rightness. When we say that God is righteous, we simply mean that what He does is always right; that He will not and cannot do anything that is not right. This is why Paul declares in Romans 1:16, 17:
"I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth...FOR THEREIN IS THE RIGHTEOUSNESS [rightness] OF GOD REVEALED..."
Paul was called to proclaim the gospel of the grace of God because it emphasizes God's rightness. The gospel does not tell us that God will overlook our sins or wink at them and smuggle us into heaven. It doesn't tell us that He will forgive us if we are sorry enough or do enough good deeds to counterbalance our sins. By no means.
The "gospel of the grace of God" is based on His rightness. It is the wonderful message that "Christ died for our sins", that He paid for them Himself so that He might justly offer us forgiveness and declare us righteous. See Philippians 3:9-10 & 2 Corinthians 5:21.
In Romans 3:26 the apostle declares that since our sins were paid for by Christ at Calvary, God can now "be just -- and the Justifier of him who believes in Jesus".
For centuries religious people have said to each other: "We must be truly sorry for our sins and do all the good we can and surely God will forgive and accept us". But this is not the gospel. The gospel gives us more solid ground to plant our feet upon. It says to every man, woman and child: "Your sins were PAID FOR by Christ at Calvary. Trust in Him and you will be saved". This is gospel [good news] indeed, for it is based on the just payment of the penalty for sin.

Do Not Judge
The Danger of Being Judgmental of Other Christians.
Being judgmental of other Christians is one of the biggest problems we face as Christians. We quickly judge others based on the sins they are committing. We seem to reserve our most severe judgment for those whom we disagree with about what they are believing or teaching in regards to the Bible. Unbelievers God has already judged so it is not our duty to be judgmental of them. See 1 Cor. 5: 12. We are to present them with the Gospel and let the Holy Spirit do the work.
Since God accounts righteousness (being recognized as without sin) by faith and faith alone should not we give Christians the same courtesy even when we see their failures?
Titus 3:5 “not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us, through the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit.
Eph. 2:8-9 For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast.
Jesus said the greatest commandments, (God’s goals for human performance, not being judged under law currently…see Rom. 3:28, 4:8, 4:15) are to love Him first and then love others as ourselves. See Matt. 22:37-39.
Paul confirms this with the following verse…
"And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, BUT HAVE NOT LOVE, I AM NOTHING." I Cor. 13:2.
There are many verses of warning against being judgmental.
In Mathew 7:1-5 Jesus said to “Judge not, lest you be judged.”
See also Romans 2:1-4.
These verses show us that when we judge harshly we fall into danger of placing judgment upon ourselves. This judgment does not come from God (since there is no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus) but come from others bouncing it back at us. It can also bring conviction from our own hearts robbing us of our peace with God.
When we adversely judge others we are actually cursing them since we are placing them under our “law”. Read Galatians 3:10-13. If you are judging them harshly then you may be guilty of robbing them from operating under God’s grace. See Gal. 5:4.
Do we then ignore sin and just pat these overt “Christian” sinners on the back and say “Go ahead and sin because your not under law anymore?” Of course not. Teach and correct them humbly and gently on how to be led by the Spirit and not by the lust of the flush. Do not beat them over the head with law! Any law! 2 Tim. 2-24-26. Gal. 5:16.
If this does not work, we are to remove ourselves from them or else we and the people who fellowship with us become deceived into wrong doing. 1 Cor. 5:6-13. Use NLT for the best translation. We must take a stand on “Christians” who are doing much evil for many reasons. I am not judging if they are saved or not, I am judging the consequences of their sin and what should be done about it. Consideration should be made on a case by case basis. Some people are really doing the best they can and it is God who does the process of sanctification and not us. Others are sinning without any concern about trying to do better. They may still need to be “saved”.
Now I would like to briefly address the problem of judging based on the Bible views held by people. We have three categories in which teachings can fall into.
Dogma. Cannot be disputed. The Bible is absolutely clear on these views and to be a “Christian” you must agree.
Doctrine. The Bible seems to be clear on these views and there is usually agreement but disagreements should not and do not disqualify you from being “saved”.
Opinions. These are views in which the Bible is not clear at all on. We should be able to disagree and feel “comfortable” that it is OK to disagree.
My view is as long as we agree on Dogma, (not going into detail here on what I think is dogma but we could start with John 14:6, 1 Cor. 2:2, Eph. 2:8,9) we should be considered brothers, do everything possible to get along and not get upset at each other even if we do disagree on doctrine or opinions. I know that one man’s opinion may be another man’s doctrine but we need to remain civil and be willing to listen to the other person’s point of view, no matter how right YOU think You are. This is where we need to take special care NOT to be judgmental. I’ve been proven wrong many times and I am thankful that God has given me the patience to hear other people out. Study the word together, be patient and God will reveal the truth by his Word. See 1 Cor. 1:10-15.

Eternal Security
Why I believe in “Eternal Security”
This is a controversial topic but one that needs to be addressed since the lack of belief of eternal security can cause needless condemnation against those who are struggling with sin. The “carnal” Christian can become discouraged and give up on their Christian walk.
What is the definition of “Eternal Security”? Otherwise known as “once saved, always saved”, it just means that once you are “born again” or once you have become regenerated by the Holy Spirit into “newness of life” you cannot lose it or become “unsaved”. Those who endorse “Conditional Security” are basically saying you can become “unborn” or you can lose your salvation by losing your faith. I used to believe that you could lose your salvation because that is what my church taught me. Sometimes we need to question what we have been taught. Before I go into the arguments against eternal security allow me to defend it based on scriptures and on simple logic.
Colossians 3:3-4; “For you died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. 4 When Christ who is our life appears, then you also will appear with Him in glory”.
The born-again believer is a “new creation” and the old life is gone. (2 Cor. 5:17) The old man has died. God no longer recognizes the old man. Our life is hidden with Christ in God. The old “life” is . We are now in the body of Christ.
Eph. 5:30 says, “For we are members of His body, of His flesh and of His bones.”
My comment: Jesus does not cut off parts of his body. We cannot become “unborn”. We cannot return to the old “dead man”. Regeneration, the single act of being “born-again”, is a work of the Spirit, it is final because God willed it and God did it. We can’t undo it. Is our will stronger than Gods? 1 Tim. 2:4 (Young’s Literal) “who doth will all men to be saved, and to come to the full knowledge of the truth;”
Philippians 1:6 “being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ;”
My comment: We are suppose to be confident that if he has begun the good work then he certainly complete despite our efforts to resist. These efforts to resist come from our flesh! God is stronger than our flesh, he is stronger than our soulish life.
Galatians 3:3 (Amplified Bible) “Are you so foolish and so senseless and so silly? Having begun [your new life spiritually] with the [Holy] Spirit, are you now reaching perfection [by dependence] on the flesh?”
My Comment: If the work is begun by the Spirit then the flesh cannot enhance it or destroy it. God does not judge us according to lapses in our mental reasoning.
John 10:27-29 “My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me. 28 And I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; neither shall anyone them out of My hand. 29 My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch them out of My Father’s hand.”
Ephesians 2:8 (New Living Translation) “God saved you by his grace when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God”.
My comment: Humans don’t take back gifts and neither does God.
Galatians 2:20 (King James Version) “I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.”
My comment: We have been given the faith OF God and By God (Rom. 12:3). It cannot fail if the Spirit has truly come in and regenerated us.
"The gifts and the calling of God are irrevocable." Romans 11:29
If salvation is a free gift (Eph. 2:8-9) then it cannot be called back...irrevocable.
Romans 8:29-34 (NLT) [my comments in brackets] For God knew his people in advance, and he chose them to become like his Son, so that his Son would be the firstborn [can one become “unborn”?] among many brothers and sisters. 30 And having chosen them, he called them to come to him. And having called them, he gave them right standing with himself. And having given them right standing, he gave them his glory. [so this is all “revocable”?] 31 What shall we say about such wonderful things as these? If God is for us, who can ever be against us? 32 Since he did not spare even his own Son but gave him up for us all, won’t he also give us everything else? 33 Who dares accuse us whom God has chosen for his own? No one—for God himself has given us right standing with himself. 34 Who then will condemn us? No one—for Christ Jesus died for us and was raised to life for us, and he is sitting in the place of honor at God’s right hand, pleading for us….38 And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love. 39 No power in the sky above or in the earth below—indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord.

My comment: If HE is the author and finisher of our faith how can WE lose it?
Jude 1:24 Now to Him who is able to keep you from stumbling…
1 Thessalonians 5:23-24 “Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you completely; and may your whole spirit, soul, and body be preserved blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. 24 He who calls you is faithful, who also will do it.”
Ephesians 1:13-14 “And now you Gentiles have also heard the truth, the Good News that God saves you. And when you believed in Christ, he identified you as his own by giving you the Holy Spirit, whom he promised long ago. 14 The Spirit is God’s guarantee that he will give us the inheritance he promised and that he has purchased us to be his own people. He did this so we would praise and glorify him.”
If we have received the Spirit then we have a guarantee. A guarantee is defined in the dictionary as “a promise or official statement that something will definitely happen.”
Will you believe God’s promise or not? Jesus sits at the right hand of the Father making intercession for us. Hebrews 7:24. His prayers are always answered!
Part 2 What about “conditional security”? Can you lose your salvation?
Why do people resist the teaching of eternal security? Here are a few simple reasons.
Opponents think that believing in it will cause people to sin more since they think sinning doesn’t matter because they are saved anyway. I will show this is not true.
They think it is the same thing as Calvinism. I will show that it is not the same.
Opponents also think there are many scriptures which prove that you can lose your salvation. I will show that these scriptures are misinterpreted or mistranslated.
God’s promises are not revoked based on man’s behavior. Just because “Jimmy” uses eternal security as an excuse to sin does not mean the promise from God is not valid. If Jimmy is looking for excuses to sin then Jimmy has probably never repented for his sins and has not been born-again of the Spirit. Paul knew his revelations would cause some to think they can just keep on sinning and he was persecuted by the religious because of it. He warns of this mistake in Romans 6:1. We know that young/carnal Christians will fall, fail and use excuses for their sin. If they are truly born again, from the Spirit, then it is the Spirit’s job to sanctify them outwardly and their job to yield to the leadings of the Spirit. Their fruits will help us determine where they are in their maturity but we are not to judge them outwardly. We cannot know the thoughts and intents of a person’s heart; only God knows.
Some would say I’m teaching Calvinism. Since many reading this are not familiar with Calvinism I will keep this answer short. Calvinism teaches “Perseverance of the Saints”, they don’t call it “eternal security”. They are basically saying that those who are called and chosen will persevere because they are called and chosen. Their “works” will prove they have been called and chosen. As we know, Paul writes that works play no part in the salvation of the believer. Salvation is a gift of God “not out of us”. Eph. 2:8-9. Their definitions and theology is different than I have described in part 1 of this paper.
Now to a few scriptures that seem to support the idea you can lose your salvation.
Romans 11:20-21 “Quite right, they (the Jews) were broken off for their unbelief, but you stand by your faith. Do not be conceited, but fear; for if God did not spare the natural branches, He will not spare you, either.”
We see here that the Jews (not born-again believers) were “broken off”. In the context of chapter 11, being “broken off” was part of God’s plan for the Jews in order to open the gospel to the Gentiles. But we also see that “all Israel will be saved” in the end in verse 26. The warning about falling from God’s grace from working in your life currently. Operating outside God’s grace because of unbelief (as Israel has found out) is a fearful thing. You can lose your joy, protection, fellowship, etc. The same reasoning can be applied to Galatians 5:4. These verses do not say you will be lost for eternity. We also need to ask if the verse is speaking to a nation as the first part of the verse indicates and so does it apply to nations, groups or individuals in the latter part of the verse.
We also need to ask if Paul may have been warning those in the audience who’s faith may not yet be genuine and may not have been truly born again. Every “church” has those too.
Hebrews 3:14 For we have become partakers of Christ, if we hold fast the beginning of our assurance firm until the end.
Hebrews 6:4-6 NLT For it is impossible to bring back to repentance those who were once enlightened—those who have experienced the good things of heaven and shared in the Holy Spirit, 5 who have tasted the goodness of the word of God and the power of the age to come—6 and who then turn away from God. It is impossible to bring such people back to repentance; by rejecting the Son of God, they themselves are nailing him to the cross once again and holding him up to public shame.
My comment: Hebrews was written to the Jews. The Jews who received this letter at this time did not yet understand the “grace system” that Paul taught to US, the Gentiles. Some of the Pentecostal Jews were being tempted to go back to Judaism even though they themselves had enjoyed the spiritual gifts. They fell under the “repentance and baptism” system, a pardon system, in which one can walk away from the faith. We are in the age of Grace, salvation by the blood of Jesus Christ received by faith alone which comes from God alone, incorruptible and irrevocable.
2 Corinthians 13:5 “Examine yourselves as to whether you are in the faith. Test yourselves. Do you not know yourselves, that Jesus Christ is in you?—unless indeed you are disqualified.”
The Corinthians were questioning Paul’s apostleship. He was asking them to check themselves if they were qualified to be promoting themselves as men of faith. He was not questioning their salvation, it was a rhetorical question.
Revelation 3:5 “He who overcomes shall be clothed in white garments, and I will not blot out his name from the Book of Life; but I will confess his name before My Father and before His angels.”
Simply states he will not erase those names in the book. A reassuring promise to those who may be worried about it. The verse does not say that he is erasing names of people who supposedly have lost their faith. All “true” Christians will overcome.
Colossians 1:22-23 yet He has now reconciled you in His fleshly body through , in order to present you before Him holy and blameless and beyond reproach-- if indeed you continue [the literal Greek (Concordant) does not say “if” but says “surely you are persisting in the faith”] in the faith firmly established and steadfast, and not moved away from the hope of the gospel that you have heard…
My comment: In this case we see the scripture was not accurately translated from the original Greek. As we see here, it can make a big difference. Other scriptures can be sited. If we look at those in the light that the individual has never come to a saving faith in the first place then we can see that the warnings can apply. None of the scriptures above or others that can be sited actually says a person has totally lost their faith. They mostly have to do with a continuation of a performance of works as to the guideline of having faith or not. As stated before, salvation comes apart from works.
This is a controversial topic but one that needs to be addressed since the lack of belief of eternal security can cause needless condemnation against those who are struggling with sin. The “carnal” Christian can become discouraged and give up on their Christian walk.
What is the definition of “Eternal Security”? Otherwise known as “once saved, always saved”, it just means that once you are “born again” or once you have become regenerated by the Holy Spirit into “newness of life” you cannot lose it or become “unsaved”. Those who endorse “Conditional Security” are basically saying you can become “unborn” or you can lose your salvation by losing your faith. I used to believe that you could lose your salvation because that is what my church taught me. Sometimes we need to question what we have been taught. Before I go into the arguments against eternal security allow me to defend it based on scriptures and on simple logic.
Colossians 3:3-4; “For you died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. 4 When Christ who is our life appears, then you also will appear with Him in glory”.
The born-again believer is a “new creation” and the old life is gone. (2 Cor. 5:17) The old man has died. God no longer recognizes the old man. Our life is hidden with Christ in God. The old “life” is . We are now in the body of Christ.
Eph. 5:30 says, “For we are members of His body, of His flesh and of His bones.”
My comment: Jesus does not cut off parts of his body. We cannot become “unborn”. We cannot return to the old “dead man”. Regeneration, the single act of being “born-again”, is a work of the Spirit, it is final because God willed it and God did it. We can’t undo it. Is our will stronger than Gods? 1 Tim. 2:4 (Young’s Literal) “who doth will all men to be saved, and to come to the full knowledge of the truth;”
Philippians 1:6 “being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ;”
My comment: We are suppose to be confident that if he has begun the good work then he certainly complete despite our efforts to resist. These efforts to resist come from our flesh! God is stronger than our flesh, he is stronger than our soulish life.
Galatians 3:3 (Amplified Bible) “Are you so foolish and so senseless and so silly? Having begun [your new life spiritually] with the [Holy] Spirit, are you now reaching perfection [by dependence] on the flesh?”
My Comment: If the work is begun by the Spirit then the flesh cannot enhance it or destroy it. God does not judge us according to lapses in our mental reasoning.
John 10:27-29 “My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me. 28 And I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; neither shall anyone them out of My hand. 29 My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch them out of My Father’s hand.”
Ephesians 2:8 (New Living Translation) “God saved you by his grace when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God”.
My comment: Humans don’t take back gifts and neither does God.
Galatians 2:20 (King James Version) “I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.”
My comment: We have been given the faith OF God and By God (Rom. 12:3). It cannot fail if the Spirit has truly come in and regenerated us.
"The gifts and the calling of God are irrevocable." Romans 11:29
If salvation is a free gift (Eph. 2:8-9) then it cannot be called back...irrevocable.
Romans 8:29-34 (NLT) [my comments in brackets] For God knew his people in advance, and he chose them to become like his Son, so that his Son would be the firstborn [can one become “unborn”?] among many brothers and sisters. 30 And having chosen them, he called them to come to him. And having called them, he gave them right standing with himself. And having given them right standing, he gave them his glory. [so this is all “revocable”?] 31 What shall we say about such wonderful things as these? If God is for us, who can ever be against us? 32 Since he did not spare even his own Son but gave him up for us all, won’t he also give us everything else? 33 Who dares accuse us whom God has chosen for his own? No one—for God himself has given us right standing with himself. 34 Who then will condemn us? No one—for Christ Jesus died for us and was raised to life for us, and he is sitting in the place of honor at God’s right hand, pleading for us….38 And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. My comment: If HE is the author and finisher of our faith how can WE lose it?
Jude 1:24 Now to Him who is able to keep you from stumbling…
1 Thessalonians 5:23-24 “Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you completely; and may your whole spirit, soul, and body be preserved blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. 24 He who calls you is faithful, who also will do it.”
Ephesians 1:13-14 “And now you Gentiles have also heard the truth, the Good News that God saves you. And when you believed in Christ, he identified you as his own by giving you the Holy Spirit, whom he promised long ago. 14 The Spirit is God’s guarantee that he will give us the inheritance he promised and that he has purchased us to be his own people. He did this so we would praise and glorify him.”
If we have received the Spirit then we have a guarantee. A guarantee is defined in the dictionary as “a promise or official statement that something will definitely happen.”
Will you believe God’s promise or not? Jesus sits at the right hand of the Father making intercession for us. Hebrews 7:24. His prayers are always answered!
Part 2 What about “conditional security”? Can you lose your salvation?

Believe for your Healing
Scriptures to believe for your healing.
Luke 5:12-13 And it happened when He was in a certain city, that behold, a man who was full of leprosy saw Jesus; and he fell on his face and implored Him, saying, “Lord, if You are willing, You can make me clean.” 13 Then He put out His hand and touched him, saying, “I am willing; be cleansed.” Immediately the leprosy left him.
It is almost always God’s will for us to be healed.
Isaiah 53:4-5
4 Surely He has borne our griefs And carried our sorrows;
Yet we esteemed Him stricken, Smitten by God, and afflicted.
5 But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities;
The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, And by His stripes we are healed.
Jesus purchased our healing at the cross.
Matthew 7:7-11 “Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened. Or what man is there among you who, if his son asks for bread, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will he give him a serpent? If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask Him!
You must ask!
Matthew 8:16-17 When evening had come, they brought to Him many who were demon-possessed. And He cast out the spirits with a word, and healed all who were sick, 17 that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Isaiah the prophet, saying: “ He Himself took our infirmities And bore our sicknesses.”
He healed them ALL!
Matthew 18:19-20 “Again I say to you that if two of you agree on earth concerning anything that they ask, it will be done for them by My Father in heaven. For where two or three are gathered together in My name, I am there in the midst of them.”
Get others to agree with you in your prayer for healing.
Psalm 103:1-3 Bless the LORD, O my soul; And all that is within me, bless His holy name!2 Bless the LORD, O my soul, And forget not all His benefits:3 Who forgives all your iniquities, Who heals all your diseases.
ALL means ALL!
Psalm 30:2 O LORD my God, I cried out to You, And You healed me.
1 Peter 2:24 who Himself bore our sins in His own body on the tree, that we, having died to sins, might live for righteousness—by whose stripes you were healed.
Notice it says that you were headed. The healing is completed, bought and paid for, you just need to claim it.
Hebrews 13:8 Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.
Jesus still heals today!
James 5:14-16 Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord. 15 And the prayer of faith will save the sick, and the Lord will raise him up. And if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven. 16 Confess your trespasses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much.
Mark 16:17-18 And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues; 18 they will take up serpents; and if they drink anything ly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.”
It helps greatly to have someone lay their hands upon you and agree with you for your healing.
Hindrances to divine healing.
Lack of faith. Faith comes by the Word of God. Keep reading the above scriptures!
Unforgiveness toward someone. Forgive whomever it is you need to forgive.
Unrepentant sin in the person’s life. Repent and stop habitual sinning.
God may still decide to heal people despite the above problems, he is sovereign.
Reasons for delayed healing.
God’s sovereign unknown will.
God wants to use a physician.
God wants to test and/or build our faith.
Lack of faith for immediate healing.

The Power of Praise
Psalms 100:4 Enter into His gates with thanksgiving, And into His courts with praise. Be thankful to Him, and bless His name.
Anytime we come before the Lord we come to Him praising him.
Psalm 150
1 Praise the LORD! Praise God in His sanctuary; Praise Him in His mighty firmament!
2 Praise Him for His mighty acts; Praise Him according to His excellent greatness!
3 Praise Him with the sound of the trumpet; Praise Him with the lute and harp!
4 Praise Him with the timbrel (drums) and dance;
Praise Him with stringed instruments and flutes!

Praise the LORD!
Hebrews 13:15 Therefore by Him let us continually offer the sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of our lips, giving thanks to His name.
We may not always feel like praising God. It is a sacrifice, a putting under of the flesh. Putting aside pride. Not caring what others think. Football fans will shout, praise and get all excited for their team. How much more should we be praising the God who gave us eternal life.
Psalms 22:22 I will declare Your name to My brethren; In the midst of the assembly I will praise You.
Psalms 34:1-3 1 I will bless the LORD at all times; His praise shall continually be in my mouth. 2 My soul shall make its boast in the LORD; The humble shall hear of it and be glad. 3 Oh, magnify the LORD with me, And let us exalt His name together.
Whenever we hear people praising God we, as humble servants of God, should be glad. Only the prideful resist praise. Below we see as we praise Him he will save and heal us!
Jeremiah 17:14 Heal me, O LORD, and I shall be healed; Save me, and I shall be saved, For You are my praise.
Psalm 113:3 From the rising of the sun to its going down, The Lord’s name is to be praised.
Psalm 22:3 But thou art holy, O thou that inhabitest the praises of Israel.
God inhabits the praises of his people!
Colossians 3:16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.
We should praise Him in song. We can learn and remember scripture with the songs we sing.
1 Cor. 14:15 What is the conclusion then? I will pray with the spirit, and I will also pray with the understanding. I will sing with the spirit, and I will also sing with the understanding.
Psalm 33:3 Sing to Him a new song; Play skillfully with a shout of joy.
Revelation 14:2 And I heard a voice from heaven, as the voice of many waters, and as the voice of a great thunder: and I heard the voice of harpers harping with their harps:
Be joyful in your singing of His praises! They will be rocking for Jesus in heaven!
2 Samuel 22:4 I will call upon the LORD, who is worthy to be praised; So shall I be saved from my enemies.
Psalm 8:1-2 1 O LORD, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth!
You have set your glory above the heavens.
2 From the lips of children and infants you have ordained praise because of your enemies,
to silence the foe and the avenger.
Praise will deliver you from your enemies, including depression and other attacks of the devil.
Acts 16:23-26 And when they had laid many stripes on them, they threw them into prison, commanding the jailer to keep them securely. 24 Having received such a charge, he put them into the inner prison and fastened their feet in the stocks.
25 But at midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the prisoners were listening to them. 26 Suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken; and immediately all the doors were opened and everyone’s chains were loosed.
In the above verse we see that Paul and Silas were suffering some terrible circumstances yet still they began to worship and sing to God. God delivered them from their when he heard the praises come forth. We need to do the same even when we are at our lowest points.
Psalms 100:4 Enter into His gates with thanksgiving, And into His courts with praise. Be thankful to Him, and bless His name.
Anytime we come before the Lord we come to Him praising him.
Psalm 150
1 Praise the LORD! Praise God in His sanctuary; Praise Him in His mighty firmament!
2 Praise Him for His mighty acts; Praise Him according to His excellent greatness!
3 Praise Him with the sound of the trumpet; Praise Him with the lute and harp!
4 Praise Him with the timbrel (drums) and dance;
Praise Him with stringed instruments and flutes!
5 Praise Him with loud cymbals; Praise Him with clashing cymbals!
6 Let everything that has breath praise the LORD.
Praise the LORD!
Hebrews 13:15 Therefore by Him let us continually offer the sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of our lips, giving thanks to His name.
We may not always feel like praising God. It is a sacrifice, a putting under of the flesh. Putting aside pride. Not caring what others think. Football fans will shout, praise and get all excited for their team. How much more should we be praising the God who gave us eternal life.
Psalms 22:22 I will declare Your name to My brethren; In the midst of the assembly I will praise You.
Psalms 34:1-3 1 I will bless the LORD at all times; His praise shall continually be in my mouth. 2 My soul shall make its boast in the LORD; The humble shall hear of it and be glad. 3 Oh, magnify the LORD with me, And let us exalt His name together.
Whenever we hear people praising God we, as humble servants of God, should be glad. Only the prideful resist praise. Below we see as we praise Him he will save and heal us!
Jeremiah 17:14 Heal me, O LORD, and I shall be healed; Save me, and I shall be saved, For You are my praise.
Psalm 113:3 From the rising of the sun to its going down, The Lord’s name is to be praised.
Psalm 22:3 But thou art holy, O thou that inhabitest the praises of Israel.
God inhabits the praises of his people!
Colossians 3:16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.
We should praise Him in song. We can learn and remember scripture with the songs we sing.
1 Cor. 14:15 What is the conclusion then? I will pray with the spirit, and I will also pray with the understanding. I will sing with the spirit, and I will also sing with the understanding.
Psalm 33:3 Sing to Him a new song; Play skillfully with a shout of joy.
Revelation 14:2 And I heard a voice from heaven, as the voice of many waters, and as the voice of a great thunder: and I heard the voice of harpers harping with their harps:
Be joyful in your singing of His praises! They will be rocking for Jesus in heaven!
2 Samuel 22:4 I will call upon the LORD, who is worthy to be praised; So shall I be saved from my enemies.
Psalm 8:1-2 1 O LORD, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth!
You have set your glory above the heavens.
2 From the lips of children and infants you have ordained praise because of your enemies,

Praise will deliver you from your enemies, including depression and other attacks of the devil.

Being "IN Christ"
On Being “In Christ.”
Galatians 3:24-29 “Therefore the law was our tutor to bring us to Christ, that we might be justified by faith. But after faith has come, we are no longer under a tutor. 26 For you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus. For as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ. There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus. And if you are Christ’s, then you are Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise.”
Put on Christ as you would a parachute. If you jump out of a plane you are totally trusting that parachute. The NIV translation uses the word “clothe.” Cover yourself with the fullness of Christ and everything that he is.
Romans 13:14 “But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh, to fulfill its s.“ If we have PUT on Christ and are IN Christ, we will be able resist the sinful desires of our bodies.
Romans 7:24,25 “O wretched man that I am! Who will deliver me from this body of ?” Paul knew it was impossible to do all that is demanded of the believer without help. Religion only gives us the letter of the law. See 2 Cor. 3:6.
Hebrews 3:14 “For we are made partakers of Christ, if we hold the beginning of our confidence stedfast unto the end;” We are not imitators of Christ, but are participators in his Spirit. That means to die to self and be led totally by His Spirit in all things.
Romans 8:1 There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit.
We should not feel guilty about our past because Christ has set us free from that guilt us being forgiven by faith in his shed at the cross. We can continue to feel guilt free if we walk according to the Spirit and not practicing sin. If we do sin, we should immediately confess our sin, repent and God will forgive us according to 1 John 1:9.
Romans 8:2 “For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and .” The Christian Faith is not a scheme of Salvation intellectually accepted, but a Life of power and holiness that one can enjoy if we die to self and walk after the Spirit. Example: a book marker in a book will go wherever the book goes.
Romans 8:11 “But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dwells in you, He who raised Christ from the will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you.” If He dwells in you and you in Him. How can we act out the old man (old self)?
Colossians 3:1-3 “If then you were raised with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ is, sitting at the right hand of God. 2 Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth. 3 For you died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God.”
Romans 6:14 For sin shall not have dominion over you, for you are not under law but under grace.
If we try to live by man’s ways and man’s abilities we will fail. We can only have victory by trusting in “the law of the Spirit of Life in Christ”, given by his grace and achieved by Christ at the cross. We cannot trust religion. We cannot trust our own strength and abilities. We must continually fall on our knees at the cross and yield totally to the Spirit, who dwells in us. The Spirit cannot and will not help us outside the cross.
Luke 9:23-24 “Then He said to them all, “If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow Me. 24 For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake will save it.”
2 Corinthians 5:14-21 “For the love of Christ compels us, because we judge thus: that if One died for all, then all died; 15 and He died for all, that those who live should live no longer for themselves, but for Him who died for them and rose again. 16 Therefore, from now on, we regard no one according to the flesh. Even though we have known Christ according to the flesh, yet now we know Him thus no longer. 17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new. 18 Now all things are of God, who has reconciled us to Himself through Jesus Christ, and has given us the ministry of reconciliation, 19 that is, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not imputing their trespasses to them, and has committed to us the word of reconciliation. 20 Now then, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were pleading through us: we implore you on Christ’s behalf, be reconciled to God. 21 For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.”
Ephesians 2:10 “For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.”
Phil. 2:13 “for it is God who works in you both to will and to do for His good pleasure.
Philippians 1:6 being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ;
Again, allow God to do the work, yield to the Holy Spirit for the ability to overcome.
Philippians 4:13 “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”
Philippians 4:19 “And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.”
These “things” and “supplies” must always be things that are pleasing to God and give Him glory, not things that are for our selfish, fleshly wants. Our whole life is meant to give HIM glory. When we operate in that capacity then we will find true joy and peace.

Dealing with Guilt and Failure
Dealing with Guilt and Failure
We ALL have failings in keeping the Lord’s commandments. I fail all the time as well. That is why God sent his Son because we are unable to keep the law. Young Christians struggle even more because they are not mature in the Lord. Men that are not able to fellowship with other strong believers will have additional difficulties. God does not expect perfection from you or anybody else. He sent the Holy Spirit to help us because he knew we would need help. You are in the process of being “sanctified” and that does not come overnight. It takes years to grow in the maturity of the Lord and you will have many failings and guilt. BUT as the truth of the Word becomes strong in you, it will change you. You must believe that. You have been made righteous and a son of God “IN Christ”.
Galatians 3:24-26 “So the law was put in charge to lead us to Christ that we might be justified by faith. Now that faith has come, we are no longer under the supervision of the law. You are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus,”
As you can see this comes by faith! God is not concerned with our performing the law because Jesus fulfilled the law. He only wants to see faith. Faith in what Jesus did at the cross sets us free! Our “righteousness” is already completed in the work of the cross.
2 Corinthians 5:17-21 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come! 18All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation: 19that God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting men's sins against them. And he has committed to us the message of reconciliation. 20We are therefore Christ's ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us. We implore you on Christ's behalf: Be reconciled to God. 21God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.
Again, the old is gone, your sins are not counted against you, in Christ you have the righteousness of God! Do not discount or throw away this great promise! Jesus gave his life to give you this promise!
1 Peter 1:3-4,23 “Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the , 4and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade—kept in heaven for you…. 23For you have been born again, not of perishable seed, but of imperishable, through the living and enduring word of God.”
You have been born-again of a seed and a promise that cannot perish!

Stop feeling guilty and realize who you are IN Christ Jesus. If you keep your thoughts on the things of the Spirit and the truth of His Word then you will not experience guilt. You have been freed from the Law and the guilt that it brings!
John 8:36 “Therefore if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed.”
Galatians 5:1 (New Living Translation) “So Christ has truly set us free. Now make sure that you stay free, and don’t get tied up again in slavery to the law.”
If Christ has made you free, don’t go back to Law!
1 John 1:9 “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” See also Psalm 51:10
If God says we are clean then we are clean.
Psalm 103:12 (New Living Translation) “He has removed our sins as far from us as the east is from the west.” See also Ezekiel 11:19,20
Renew your mind with theses verses. Hid them in your heart. Do not be persuaded otherwise. Be filled with the fruits of the Spirit.

I would also recommended reading Romans chapters 6,7,8 multiple times, until the work of the cross (chap. 6), the uselessness of the law (chap. 7), and the victory by the Spirit (chap. 8), burns deep in your soul.

Jesus, as The Christ, was always with God the Father, Christ became God incarnate in the flesh as Jesus Christ. We know Jesus Christ because of God’s word, the Bible. Without the Word we could not know about Jesus Christ, our God. We must go to the Word, the Bible to know who God is, how he works, and His will for our lives. We can depend on no other source. The Word is the definitive authority in our lives.
John 6:63 It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing. The words that I speak to you are spirit, and they are life.
Hebrews 4:12 For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.
God’s Word is living and powerful. It is spirit and life. It is your source of life giving power and truth. The Word is your means of change, your engine of change.

The Message of the Cross
I have found that most Christians are unaware of the true meaning and significance of the cross of Christ. Let’s review a few scriptures and allow the Holy Spirit to teach our hearts. Warning; this message is offensive! See Galatians 5:11.
1 Corinthians 1:18 For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.
Notice that the message of the cross is “the power of God”. If it is the power source for Christians then we had better understand it. I cannot say I personally understand it fully. Truly understanding the cross and living the crucified life, I believe, will take a lifetime. So this paper is only a taste of a partial understanding.
1 Corinthians 1:17 For Christ did not send me to baptize, but to preach the gospel, not with wisdom of words, lest the cross of Christ should be made of no effect.
This is why this paper will fall painfully short in understanding the cross. It cannot be explained with “wisdom of words.” It must be experienced as well or the cross will be meaningless and void. Salvation itself and the power to live a sanctified life will not be in one’s life unless it is experienced.
Luke 9:23 Then He said to them all, "If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow Me.
Jesus talked about the cross even though he had not gone to the cross yet. I’m sure the Jews were puzzled by the use of the word. To them, only the worst criminals were crucified on a cross. The cross meant only and shame. That is why it was a stumbling block to them. See Gal.3:13. Much could be written about Luke 9:23. It is a hard word and an offense to the hearer. We are called to deny ourselves. Even to the point of a daily to self. We need to examine ourselves daily to see if we served self or Jesus Christ. A high calling but well worth it as Jesus went on to say in the next verse.
Luke 9:24 "For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake will save it.
Let’s forget about the benefits of the cross life for a moment. Consider this verse.
Matt. 10:38 He who does not take his cross and follow after Me is not worthy of Me.
We are not even worthy of being called Christians if we don’t walk the crucified life.
The most basic meaning of the message of the cross is that we must die to self and live unto God. If we have truly died to self, how can we live any longer in sin? Any kind of sin. All self interest must die.
Galatians 2:20 I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me.
The crucified life means the things of the world no longer have any interest to me. I’m to the world and it is to me.
Galatians 6:14 But God forbid that I should boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world.
Not only the things of the world but our fleshly desires as well.
Galatians 5:24 And those who are Christ's have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.
Romans 6:6 knowing this, that our old man was crucified with Him, that the body of sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves of sin.
Some would say this is too hard of a word. I cannot do it!! You’re right. YOU cannot. But God, through the Holy Spirit working in you, you CAN do it!
2 Corinthians 13:4 For though He was crucified in weakness, yet He lives by the power of God. For we also are weak in Him, but we shall live with Him by the power of God toward you.
God has given this power to live for Christ by the work of the cross. This work was finished by God Himself, Jesus Christ, by the shedding of His at the cross. Now we have peace with God. We become His children. He dwells within us by the Holy Spirit. The work of the cross, Christ crucified, opened the legal door for God to operate in our lives.
Colossians 1:20 and by Him to reconcile all things to Himself, by Him, whether things on earth or things in heaven, having made peace through the of His cross.

1 Corinthians 1:23 but we preach Christ crucified, to the Jews a stumbling block and to the Greeks foolishness,

The Blood Atonement
The Blood Atonement
If you asked most Christians today the following question, “How exactly does Jesus save us?” You would probably get a lot of different answers. Most people don’t realize that there is a specific reason why Jesus had to come to the earth in human form; go to the cross, and die the way he did.
The reason why he had to do all this is because the shedding of blood was required by God the Father for the forgiveness of sin. Most people believe if they come before God on judgment day and simply say they are sorry for their sin, then God will just forgive them and let them into heaven. But that is not God‘s way for forgiveness. God has clearly laid out in the Bible exactly how we are to come to him and the conditions for forgiveness of sins. Since he is the creator he makes the rules, not us. We cannot devise our own plan of salvation. The reason we cannot create our own salvation plan is because we think that sin is no big deal. But sin is a big deal to a Holy and righteous God. Sin is so evil and horrible in His eyes that God requires a high price for His forgiveness. He requires a huge penalty for sin. Romans 6:23 says the penalty for sin is death. Forgiveness is only for those who believe that their death penalty was paid for by the shed blood of God Himself, Jesus Christ at the cross. The entire Bible points to this fact.
In the book of Genesis, Adam and Eve sinned against God. They were separated from God. They felt guilty and naked.
Genesis 3:7,21 Then the eyes of both of them were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together and made themselves coverings. 21 Also for Adam and his wife the LORD God made tunics of skin, and clothed them.
Fig leaves were an insufficient covering. God made tunics from animal skins, he shed blood of the animals to make the skins.
In the story of Cain and Abel found in Genesis Chapter 4. Abel’s sacrifice to God was accepted because he sacrificed animals, blood was shed. Cain’s sacrifice was not accepted because it was only the fruit of the ground. Cain became angry. God told him that he would accept a proper sacrifice. But Cain thought his good work should be good enough, just the same way man thinks today, and he rejected God’s way. The end result was Cain became so angry he killed his brother Abel. God had to punish Cain.
Leviticus 17:11 God said, For the life of the flesh is in the blood, and I have given it to you upon the altar to make atonement for your souls; for it is the blood that makes atonement for the soul.’
Atonement means to take action to make things right for things done wrong.
Believers in the old testament had to sacrifice animals (shed their blood) to be atoned (forgiven for their sins).
Hebrews 9:22 (Amplified Bible)
22 …under the Law almost everything is purified by means of blood, and without the shedding of blood there is neither release from sin and its guilt nor the remission of the due and merited punishment for sins.
Jesus fulfilled the requirements of the Law at the cross. We could not. We cannot live a sinless life like he did. Since he fulfilled the requirements of the Law we no longer have to sacrifice or shed the blood of animals for the forgiveness of our sins. Jesus set us free from that! Can you imagine having to go to the market and buy a bull or goat to sacrifice!
God’s wrath is upon those who are without the blood sacrifice of Jesus Christ. The following verses will tell you that God doesn’t let everyone into heaven just because he’s a loving God. Those who die without the blood of Christ will receive a great punishment. They can escape this punishment if they receive and trust in, by faith, the blood atonement of Christ.
John 3:36 He who believes in the Son has everlasting life; and he who does not believe the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him.”
Romans 5:9 Much more then, having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from wrath through Him.
Colossians 1:13-14 He has delivered us from the power of darkness and conveyed us into the kingdom of the Son of His love, 14 in whom we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins.
Colossians 1:20 and by Him to reconcile all things to Himself, by Him, whether things on earth or things in heaven, having made peace through the blood of His cross.
Jesus laid down his life, shed his blood and died in our place so we would not have to receive judgment from God.
Romans 3:25 whom God set forth as a propitiation by His blood, through faith, to demonstrate His righteousness, because in His forbearance God had passed over the sins that were previously committed,
Propitiation means to escape God’s wrath. Old testament example is the Passover. In the book of Exodus chap. 11&12. Blood was spread on the door posts to escape God‘s judgment. The Egyptians first born all died. They did not have the Passover blood.
Ephesians 1:7 In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace
1 John 1:7 But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin.
Acts 20:26-28 Therefore I testify to you this day that I am innocent of the blood of all men. 27 For I have not shunned to declare to you the whole counsel of God. 28 Therefore take heed to yourselves and to all the flock, among which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers, to shepherd the church of God which He purchased with His own blood.
We must preach the whole counsel of God especially of the benefits of the blood shed by Jesus at the cross. By His blood we have justification, reconciliation, propitiation, redemption and forgiveness. Jesus paid the price for our souls with his blood. Now we belong to Him, not ourselves.
1 Corinthians 6:19-20
…your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, you are not your own. For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s.
Before Jesus went to the cross he taught about the importance of what he was about to do at the cross. During the “last supper” he revealed the importance of the future shedding of His blood.
Matthew 26:27 Then He took the cup, and gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, “Drink from it, all of you. 28 For this is My blood of the new covenant, which is shed for many for the remission of sins.
Taking communion is a remembrance of all the things Christ accomplished for us by the shedding of his blood. Once for all. A remembrance that the new covenant has been ratified. His shed blood is the only hope we have to obtain right standing with God. This is God’s way to receive forgiveness.
The Bible warns us about taking this message of the blood atonement too lightly. I cannot convince you of this intellectually, you must receive it by faith
Hebrews 10:29 Of how much worse punishment, do you suppose, will he be thought worthy who has trampled the Son of God underfoot, counted the blood of the covenant by which he was sanctified a common thing, and insulted the Spirit of grace?
We should fear God and his punishments if we willfully sin because of our careless disregard of His blood sacrifice.

Jesus laid down his life, shed his blood and died in our place so we would not have to receive judgment from God.
Romans 3:25 whom God set forth as a propitiation by His blood, through faith, to demonstrate His righteousness, because in His forbearance God had passed over the sins that were previously committed,
Propitiation means to escape God’s wrath. Old testament example is the Passover. In the book of Exodus chap. 11&12. Blood was spread on the door posts to escape God‘s judgment. The Egyptians first born all died. They did not have the Passover blood.
Ephesians 1:7 In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace
1 John 1:7 But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin.
Acts 20:26-28 Therefore I testify to you this day that I am innocent of the blood of all men. 27 For I have not shunned to declare to you the whole counsel of God. 28 Therefore take heed to yourselves and to all the flock, among which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers, to shepherd the church of God which He purchased with His own blood.
We must preach the whole counsel of God especially of the benefits of the blood shed by Jesus at the cross. By His blood we have justification, reconciliation, propitiation, redemption and forgiveness. Jesus paid the price for our souls with his blood. Now we belong to Him, not ourselves.
1 Corinthians 6:19-20
…your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, you are not your own. For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s.
Before Jesus went to the cross he taught about the importance of what he was about to do at the cross. During the “last supper” he revealed the importance of the future shedding of His blood.
Matthew 26:27 Then He took the cup, and gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, “Drink from it, all of you. 28 For this is My blood of the new covenant, which is shed for many for the remission of sins.
Taking communion is a remembrance of all the things Christ accomplished for us by the shedding of his blood. Once for all. A remembrance that the new covenant has been ratified. His shed blood is the only hope we have to obtain right standing with God. This is God’s way to receive forgiveness.
The Bible warns us about taking this message of the blood atonement too lightly. I cannot convince you of this intellectually, you must receive it by faith
Hebrews 10:29 Of how much worse punishment, do you suppose, will he be thought worthy who has trampled the Son of God underfoot, counted the blood of the covenant by which he was sanctified a common thing, and insulted the Spirit of grace?
We should fear God and his punishments if we willfully sin because of our careless disregard of His blood sacrifice.

Word of Faith Errors
The Errors of the Word of Faith Message in Relation to Prosperity and other topics.

I am writing this article as a former member of the “Word of Faith” (WOF) movement. Word of Faith people follow the teachings of Kenneth Hagin, (who plagiarized his teachings from E.W. Kenyon and was influenced by Christian Science and New Thought metaphysics) and Kenneth Copeland the undisputed leader of the movement today. WOF is a relatively new quasi-doctrine based primarily on the writings of ONE MAN, Kenneth Hagin. The WOF message conflicts with hundreds of years of accepted sound biblical doctrine established by men like Luther, Wesley, Whitfield, Spurgeon, Tozar and Moody. We must weigh what all teachers say against scripture and examine it to see if it is in harmony with the meaning of the cross.
There are many teachers of the WOF message on TV. I do believe that they are true Christians that have been deceived by the WOF hype. I have rejected much of what the WOF movement teaches in light of what the scriptures actually reveal. Why I’m so concerned about such a outwardly positive teaching? The WOF message on the topic of financial prosperity is nothing less a gross distortion of the blessings of the cross of Christ. In some ways it contradicts the cross. It is being used by churches today to tickle the ears of the congregation as a means for church growth. The WOF message has infected almost every full gospel church in the nation. I will address this topic later.
The “confession message” is a WOF teaching I have a big problem with. It involves putting faith in your confession rather than putting your faith in God. It puts faith in your faith; that you have “the God kind of Faith,” activating certain “spiritual laws” releasing the good forces (God or angels) to act on your behalf. That kind thinking makes you a “little god” and/or “god like.” I do think we have some of God’s attributes and we are made in his “image”. God is in us, yes and we can trust in His abilities, but WE are not and cannot be God or a god. That was Lucifer’s sin. Is. 14:14 “I will ascend above the heights of the clouds, I will be like the Most High." And it was the serpents temptation to Eve. Gen. 3:5 “For God knows that in the day you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.” Ps. 82:6 refers to Israel as judges with god-like attributes in that capacity. Not that they are or that we are “gods”. This is heresy and a sinful challenge to God’s sovereignty. It puts you and your will on the throne and removes God and His will off the throne. We do want to confess what God’s word says about a situation but let us not think that our confession is some kind of “force.” We must always focus our faith in Christ and his completed work at the cross, not in our confession. We don’t need faith “formulas“ or repetitive confessions, putting into motion certain “spiritual laws.” New Age people originated this type of thinking with their “law of attraction” and the “power of positive thinking.” You now create your life with your thoughts and your confession, not seeking God’s will for your life through prayer, study of the Bible and patience. Jesus said in Matt. 10:38 “Unless you take up your cross you cannot be my disciple.” Taking up your cross means dying to self and self interests.
“Faith” teachers create a mind set for their followers which is the opposite of the true meaning of the cross; which is to die to self and live unto Christ. Galatians 6:14 “But may it never be that I would boast, except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, through which the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world.” How many times have we heard these WOF teachers brag about the material possessions they have? They are promoting breaking the 10th commandment, “thou shall not covet.” Coveting is wanting things other people have. In Acts 20:33 Paul states "I have coveted no one's silver or gold or clothes.” The prosperity message appeals to the materialism of man. This is a real problem with the American church. We are already much more blessed than Christians in other countries. This “gospel” does not work in poor countries. A true gospel should work anywhere! The true gospel is preaching repentance, salvation and sanctification by the completed work of Christ at the cross. You would think by watching TBN that prosperity is what the Bible is all about. The cross of Christ was the foundation of Paul’s theology and life. I Cor 1:23 “but we preach Christ crucified…” Jesus’ completed work on the cross provides everything we get from God. God does not operate outside the cross. This is what Paul was speaking of in I Cor. 1:17 “For Christ did not send me to baptize, but to preach the gospel, not in cleverness of speech, so that the cross of Christ would not be made void.”
The Corinthians did not understand, as most Christians today, the message of the cross. Read I Cor. 2:2 “For I determined to know nothing among you except Jesus Christ, and Him crucified.” In D.R. McConnell’s book, “A Different Gospel“ he states, “For Paul the cross of Christ crucified is the totality of the believer’s existence. This includes both the believer’s life and his for things of this world. To believe in the cross meant the of the believers claim to his own life. To believe in the cross is to deliver the totality of one’s existence unto him who delivered himself up for us. Anything less “nullifies” the grace of God and the work of the cross.” Gal. 2:20,21. "I have been crucified with Christ; and it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself up for me. 21"I do not nullify the grace of God, for if righteousness comes through the Law, then Christ died needlessly." Also from McConnell’s book, “It is also evident that from Galatians that Paul did not conceive of Jesus’ cross in terms of its worldly benefits. He realized that identification with the cross of Jesus entailed the crucifixion of the believer’s relation to the world and its s. Read again Gal. 6:14 “…through which the world was crucified unto me, and I unto the world.”
The prosperity message never preaches about being crucified to the world. They embrace the world and it’s goods. The prosperity mind set subverts the cross in at least three ways. First, it subverts the demand of the cross for self-denial. Second, it reduces God as a means to an end. They become seekers of status and goods rather than seekers of God. God becomes the source from whom material gain flows rather than the sovereign for to whom material gain may be sacrificed to serve him. Third, the “sign” of God’s approval is based on how much you have of worldly goods. The demand of Jesus to leave the world and take up the cross is silenced by the prosperity message.
The prosperity message also demeans the poor and the sick. I Cor. 11:22 “What! Do you not have houses in which to eat and drink? Or do you despise the church of God and shame those who have nothing? What shall I say to you? Shall I praise you? In this I will not praise you.” The faith teachers say the poor and sick “lack faith” or that there must be some sin in their life or they would be prospering.
Don’t get me wrong, God does not want his children to be in poverty. Matt 6:8. "So do not be like them; for our Father knows what you need before you ask Him.” God will see that our needs are met if we trust Him. The prosperity message goes far beyond getting our needs met to a focus on materialism. Read Matt 6:19-21 “Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys, and where thieves do not break in or steal; for where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” Go to verse 25 "For this reason I say to you, do not be worried about your life, as to what you will eat or what you will drink; nor for your body, as to what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing?” Now verse 33 "But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you." We are not to worry about our needs. God will meet our needs IF we seek first His kingdom. God is not required to make us rich. God is not required to do anything except His promise to save us if we trust in the of Jesus shed for the remission of sins.
The WOF people often make demands upon God saying we should go “boldly to the throne of grace.” Hebrews 4:16 “Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.” They forget that the verse also states that we do so to obtain mercy and grace, not to make demands upon God. Note the parable of the prodigal son found in Luke 15:12 "The younger of them said to his father, 'Father, give me the share of the estate that falls to me ' So he divided his wealth between them.” In this story of prodigal son sinfully demanded his inheritance. God is not required to grant every wish just because a person thinks he has found a scripture to confess. God is sovereign. His ways are higher than ours. He may or may not choose to prosper those who he can trust with the money. Money, for most people, including Christians, could be their ruin. James 5:1-3, Come now, you rich, weep and howl for your miseries which are coming upon you. Your riches have rotted and your garments have become moth-eaten. Your gold and your silver have rusted; and their rust will be a witness against you and will consume your flesh like fire. It is in the last days that you have stored up your treasure! See also Mark 4:19; “but the worries of the world, and the deceitfulness of riches, and the desires for other things enter in and choke the word, and it becomes unfruitful.” Read I Tim 6:8-11; “If we have food and covering, with these we shall be content. But those who want to get rich fall into temptation and a snare and many foolish and harmful desires which plunge men into ruin and destruction. For the love of money is a root of all sorts of evil, and some by longing for it have wandered away from the faith and pierced themselves with many grief’s. But flee from these things, you man of God, and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, perseverance and gentleness." Verse 17. “Instruct those who are rich in this present world not to be conceited or to fix their hope on the uncertainty of riches, but on God, who richly supplies us with all things to enjoy.” If you have riches you will more than likely begin to trust in them and not God.
Jim Bakker in his book “I Was Wrong” did a study on the verses the prosperity people use to justify their position since he was one of them himself. What about John 10:10 the WOF defenders say. "The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly.” Does abundant life mean material things? The Greek work for life here is the ZOE life. Zoë means “life in the spirit and soul” not life in materialistic gains. If that life means having cars, homes, riches, parties and entertainment then the world is experiencing the abundant life. But reality is that the world has more depression, pain and hatred then ever. What about 3 John 2? “Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.” Almost the foundation verse for the prosperity message. What did John truly mean when he said “above ALL”? Does God want you to have money above your soul’s salvation? No, of course not! Bakker looked up the word “prosper” in the Greek and found it was made up of two Greek words, “eu” which means good and “hodos” which means “road, or route, a progress, or journey.” He did not find a single reference to in the Greek to money, riches or material gain from the word translated “prosper” in the King James Version. So what John was really saying was “I wish you a good safe and healthy journey through your life even as your soul has a good and safe journey to heaven. As recorded in Acts chapters 27-28, his journey prospered spiritually but not prosperous in any other way.
What about Duet. 8:18? "But you shall remember the LORD your God, for it is He who is giving you power to make wealth, that He may confirm His covenant which He swore to your fathers, as it is this day.” What God was really saying here is, “when you get to the promised land, don’t forget who brought you there and gave to you everything that you have.” The word “wealth” comes from the Hebrew world chayll which is used 232 times in the old testament. The word is meant to imply, “might, strength, power, ability, virtue, valor as well as wealth. This verse is not a “biblical formula” for us to confess for money. God may or may not bless us with a house, land, or other possessions. This verse should not be used to make it sound like God’s going to make everyone wealthy. God can and does bless some people to the point of wealth. He does this because he knows those people will use it to bless others. Money should never be the focus of our faith. God usually does want us blessed and he will pour out blessings if we are obedient to him and make Him number one in our lives. Even then it is still up to him. He is not required to prosper us. Wealth, for some, could hinder their understanding and obedience to Him. Matthew 6:24 "No one can serve two masters. Either he will the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and Money.” Bakker concludes by saying “In retrospect, one of the main reasons I slipped into believing and preaching a distorted doctrine was because of my lack of understanding of what it really means to allow Jesus to be the Lord of my life.
The WOF prosperity message is a contradiction of the example of the lives of Jesus, the apostle Paul and heroes of the faith. Heb 11:37,38. They were stoned, they were sawn in two, they were tempted, they were put to with the sword; they went about in sheepskins, in goatskins, being destitute, afflicted, ill-treated (men of whom the world was not worthy), wandering in deserts and mountains and caves and holes in the ground.” The doctrine of prosperity is not worthy of such men. The bible says many times that we will have to endure trials, sufferings and persecutions for His sake. That God will discipline those that he loves and that he will test our faith. See Hebrews 12:6 and James 1:3. WOF people never talk about that! That would be negative and people might leave the church! They say that we are always living in victory and imply that nothing “bad” ever happens. We cannot know God’s will for every circumstance and every situation. Most of the time we do know by his word and His Spirit. We pray what we think God’s will is and what he puts into our heart. We intercede for others in prayer. We often quote the Word in our prayers. We can make our requests known to God. Phil. 4:6. But let us not make demands or say God must do this or that because we don’t always know for sure! I think God does want us to prosper spiritually and to prosper in our soul realm. We must lift up our prayers to the Father in Jesus’ name and HE does the work as he wills. If God wants everyone healed all the time then every WOF person would be healed all the time! Why did bother Hagin die? It was God’s timing for his life to end. I prayed earnestly for my dad to be healed and I fully believed that he would be healed; but it was God’s timing to allow him to die. Why? I’m not sure but I can rest knowing that “… all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.” Romans 8:28.
Another WOF error is that we no longer have a sin nature because we are born-again. Wrong. The sin nature is still present and it can easily rise up to tempt us. Christ’s work on the cross has set us free from the power of the sin nature, thus making the sin nature much weaker but not totally absent . Read Romans 7:16-20 for proof. That is why we must take up the cross daily and continue to place our faith in Christ and the cross. Read Romans 6:3-5 to learn the key to victory over sin.
Another WOF error is that Jesus went to hell and suffered at the hands of the devil so he could be the first born-again man. Even the sound of that teaching tells me it’s wrong. Jesus said on the cross, “It is finished.” His work was done! He also told the thief on the cross next to him that “Today you will be with me in paradise”
I have seen people leave the church because their lives did not get any better by being in a “faith” church. They came to Jesus under false pretences thinking they will have all this prosperity rather than coming to him for forgiveness of sin. They came unrepentant and unwilling to take up the cross. The WOF doctrine has created many false converts as I once was. Please understand the dangers of this distorted doctrine. Do not be persuaded by the deceitfulness of riches. Have not many TV preachers used this teaching to enrich themselves? Why would we even remotely want to appear to be like them? Let us preach to save the lost and teach them how to be free from sin by the power and leading of the Holy Spirit. This is what they need! WOF teachings blinded my understanding of what it means to crucify myself and live unto Christ (a sign of being “born again”). If all your looking for is material blessings from God you can never die to self. Repent daily. Die to self. Take up the cross. Trust in Christ. Obey the Holy Spirit for His Glory.

See also Mark 4:19; “but the worries of the world, and the deceitfulness of riches, and the desires for other things enter in and choke the word, and it becomes unfruitful.” Read I Tim 6:8-11; “If we have food and covering, with these we shall be content. But those who want to get rich fall into temptation and a snare and many foolish and harmful desires which plunge men into ruin and destruction. For the love of money is a root of all sorts of evil, and some by longing for it have wandered away from the faith and pierced themselves with many grief’s. But flee from these things, you man of God, and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, perseverance and gentleness." Verse 17. “Instruct those who are rich in this present world not to be conceited or to fix their hope on the uncertainty of riches, but on God, who richly supplies us with all things to enjoy.” If you have riches you will more than likely begin to trust in them and not God.
Jim Bakker in his book “I Was Wrong” did a study on the verses the prosperity people use to justify their position since he was one of them himself. What about John 10:10 the WOF defenders say. "The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly.” Does abundant life mean material things? The Greek work for life here is the ZOE life. Zoë means “life in the spirit and soul” not life in materialistic gains. If that life means having cars, homes, riches, parties and entertainment then the world is experiencing the abundant life. But reality is that the world has more depression, pain and hatred then ever. What about 3 John 2? “Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.” Almost the foundation verse for the prosperity message. What did John truly mean when he said “above ALL”? Does God want you to have money above your soul’s salvation? No, of course not! Bakker looked up the word “prosper” in the Greek and found it was made up of two Greek words, “eu” which means good and “hodos” which means “road, or route, a progress, or journey.” He did not find a single reference to in the Greek to money, riches or material gain from the word translated “prosper” in the King James Version. So what John was really saying was “I wish you a good safe and healthy journey through your life even as your soul has a good and safe journey to heaven. As recorded in Acts chapters 27-28, his journey prospered spiritually but not prosperous in any other way.
What about Duet. 8:18? "But you shall remember the LORD your God, for it is He who is giving you power to make wealth, that He may confirm His covenant which He swore to your fathers, as it is this day.” What God was really saying here is, “when you get to the promised land, don’t forget who brought you there and gave to you everything that you have.” The word “wealth” comes from the Hebrew world chayll which is used 232 times in the old testament. The word is meant to imply, “might, strength, power, ability, virtue, valor as well as wealth. This verse is not a “biblical formula” for us to confess for money. God may or may not bless us with a house, land, or other possessions. This verse should not be used to make it sound like God’s going to make everyone wealthy. God can and does bless some people to the point of wealth. He does this because he knows those people will use it to bless others. Money should never be the focus of our faith. God usually does want us blessed and he will pour out blessings if we are obedient to him and make Him number one in our lives. Even then it is still up to him. He is not required to prosper us. Wealth, for some, could hinder their understanding and obedience to Him. Matthew 6:24 "No one can serve two masters. Either he will the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and Money.” Bakker concludes by saying “In retrospect, one of the main reasons I slipped into believing and preaching a distorted doctrine was because of my lack of understanding of what it really means to allow Jesus to be the Lord of my life.
The WOF prosperity message is a contradiction of the example of the lives of Jesus, the apostle Paul and heroes of the faith. Heb 11:37,38. They were stoned, they were sawn in two, they were tempted, they were put to with the sword; they went about in sheepskins, in goatskins, being destitute, afflicted, ill-treated (men of whom the world was not worthy), wandering in deserts and mountains and caves and holes in the ground.” The doctrine of prosperity is not worthy of such men. The bible says many times that we will have to endure trials, sufferings and persecutions for His sake. That God will discipline those that he loves and that he will test our faith. See Hebrews 12:6 and James 1:3. WOF people never talk about that! That would be negative and people might leave the church! They say that we are always living in victory and imply that nothing “bad” ever happens. We cannot know God’s will for every circumstance and every situation. Most of the time we do know by his word and His Spirit. We pray what we think God’s will is and what he puts into our heart. We intercede for others in prayer. We often quote the Word in our prayers. We can make our requests known to God. Phil. 4:6. But let us not make demands or say God must do this or that because we don’t always know for sure! I think God does want us to prosper spiritually and to prosper in our soul realm. We must lift up our prayers to the Father in Jesus’ name and HE does the work as he wills. If God wants everyone healed all the time then every WOF person would be healed all the time! Why did bother Hagin die? It was God’s timing for his life to end. I prayed earnestly for my dad to be healed and I fully believed that he would be healed; but it was God’s timing to allow him to die. Why? I’m not sure but I can rest knowing that “… all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.” Romans 8:28.
Another WOF error is that we no longer have a sin nature because we are born-again. Wrong. The sin nature is still present and it can easily rise up to tempt us. Christ’s work on the cross has set us free from the power of the sin nature, thus making the sin nature much weaker but not totally absent . Read Romans 7:16-20 for proof. That is why we must take up the cross daily and continue to place our faith in Christ and the cross. Read Romans 6:3-5 to learn the key to victory over sin.
Another WOF error is that Jesus went to hell and suffered at the hands of the devil so he could be the first born-again man. Even the sound of that teaching tells me it’s wrong. Jesus said on the cross, “It is finished.” His work was done! He also told the thief on the cross next to him that “Today you will be with me in paradise”
I have seen people leave the church because their lives did not get any better by being in a “faith” church. They came to Jesus under false pretences thinking they will have all this prosperity rather than coming to him for forgiveness of sin. They came unrepentant and unwilling to take up the cross. The WOF doctrine has created many false converts as I once was. Please understand the dangers of this distorted doctrine. Do not be persuaded by the deceitfulness of riches. Have not many TV preachers used this teaching to enrich themselves? Why would we even remotely want to appear to be like them? Let us preach to save the lost and teach them how to be free from sin by the power and leading of the Holy Spirit. This is what they need! WOF teachings blinded my understanding of what it means to crucify myself and live unto Christ (a sign of being “born again”). If all your looking for is material blessings from God you can never die to self. Repent daily. Die to self. Take up the cross. Trust in Christ. Obey the Holy Spirit for His Glory.
